The database I chose was the CSU East Bay Database.

2. What terms did you enter to conduct your search?
I entered "Earthquakes"

3. How many results did you retrieve?
I retrieved 50 Results.

I Only received 50 Results.

5. Once you got your results to around 100 (or fewer), how did you determine they were meaningful?
I determined that they were meaningful by clicking on the first article to see what relevance it had to do with what I typed in.

7. How did you determine these articles were meaningful?
I determined that these articles were meaningful by going on Google to search the book to read the description to see if it had anything to do with what I am looking for.

1)Which of your questions did you try to answer?

*What are wheel spacers?

2)What exact terms did you enter in the keyword search screen?

*At first I only typed in "wheel spacers." The results I got were the brand of wheels spacers. Then I typed in "What are wheel spacer." The results I got were actually spacer brands and what the wheel spacers do.

3)What subject heading did you choose to be sure your item was on target and the best option for your search?

*The subject heading I chose was reference books to make sure that my subject was on point because it had nothing to do with the other headings.

4)What item did you eventually choose? Why?

*The item I eventually chose was the encyclopedia because it gave more descriptive information about the topic.

5)Give the bibliographic information for the item you chose.

*It would be more as a reference book because it is more of a guide than a regular book that you would read.

*The information probably came out about 5 to ten years ago since it't the 3rd edition.

a)Do you have more or fewer entries with your subject heading search than with your keyword search?

I find more entries when I put in a keyword search. Putting in a keyword gave me many results to different books and topics.

b)As you examine these results, are they more on target than the results you retrieved from your keyword search?

The results are not much on target because they were just keywords. The results listed many topics from the keywords and since the keyword was not specific it didn't really give a specific topic.

c) Why?

Because the keyword was too general.

*The difference between a keyword search and a subject heading search is a keyword search is something much more general, and subject heading search is more specific and something that you really know what you are looking for/

Topic: Lead Poisoning
Lead poisoning occurs when you absorb too much lead by breathing or swallowing a substance with lead in it, such as food, dust, paint, or water.

Broadest Topic: Mercury Vapor
While old paint has been the mostsource of airborne heavy metal (i.e., lead) A 1990 report detailed elevated levels of mercury in persons exposed to interior latex (water-based) paint containing phenylmercuric acetate.

Narrower Topic: Key Signs of Lead/ Mercury Poisoning
* Gastrointestinal discomfort/constipation/anorexia/nausea
* Fatigue, weakness
* Personality changes
* Headache
* Hearing loss
* Tremor, lack of coordination

Even narrower topic: Lead and Mercury becomes very toxic to human and living organisms.

Think of two questions that you could ask about your topic:
1) Where and how does lead get in to our food?
2) How are lead and mercury tested?

1. what advantages and disadvantages have you discovered?
2. how might this unit change the way you interact with search engines in the future?

1) The advantages I have discovered is that, search engines can list and give you many resources of what it is that people are looking for. The disadvantage is some links are not that resourceful so you have to keep searching through many links to find what you are looking for.

2) This unit would change the way I react with search engines in the future by typing in different key word of what I am looking for in the search box to see what other results I would get.

1. What is Delicious?
Delicious is an online tool that saves all of your bookmarks and give you and other people ability to see what you and other people bookmarked.

2. What is the advantage of this web 2.0 tool?
The advantage of the web's 2.0 tool that it helps people with saving their stuff and what they researched so when they need to look back for it then they can always go back to look for their searching on the internet,

3. Do you think you might use it? If so, why? If not, why?
I think I might use this tool because it might help me to go back and remember what I looked at in the past.

Answers:

1) I used Google, Msn , Yahoo

2a) Rims, Wheels, Tires

2b) I just put in key words to what I am looking for to see what kind of results I would get. (i.e "Rims", Tires and Wheels, Rims and Tires.

3a) Google gave me: Results 1 - 10 of about 22,900,000 for rims
Msn: 1 - 10 of 623,000,000 for wheels
Yahoo: 1 - 10 of 283,000,000 for tires

3b) Every search engine gave me brands of the tires wheels and rims and all three listed had the brands in different order. All the number of results were all different. Some had more and some had less.

3c) I think the search engines behaved like they did is because the keywords were to general and it just listed anything that was typed in.

4) Questions that came to mind when I was searching was how and why the orders came and how did the keyword lead the search engine to pop up Brands.
